Abstract

ABSTRACT

The prevalence rate of schizophrenia patients who experience emotional control problems is 264 out of 1000 patients and occurs in schizophrenia patients aged over 15 years. The results of previous studies showed that 32% of patients with schizophrenia are prone to committing acts of violence, and 16% of patients experience death due to violent behavior which is an expression of the inability to control emotions and delusions experienced. This study aims to determine the effect of Islamic spiritual mindfulness intervention on the ability to control emotions in schizophrenia patients. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test post-test with control group design. The number of samples was 60 respondents selected from the population using random sampling which was divided into two groups. The intervention group was given four mindfulness sessions in two weeks. To see the effect of Islamic spiritual mindfulness on the ability to control emotions in schizophrenia patients, the test used was the Mann Whitney test. The results showed that after being given the intervention, the patient's ability to control emotions increased (p = 0.000).The intervention group had a higher average value (45.50) than the control group (15.50).It can be concluded that Islamic spiritual mindfulness intervention has a more significant effect on the ability to control emotions of schizophrenia patients.
