Combination of Acupressure on Acupoint Hegu L14 and Lavender Aromatherapy on Pain Perception in First Period Labour Mothers

Labour pain is caused by uterine muscle contractions, cervical stretching, and stretching of the lower segment of the uterus. Overcoming pain with non-pharmacological acupressure on acupoint hegu L14 and lavender aromatherapy can provide a sense of relaxation, distracting pain. It is known that the combination of acupressure therapy on acupoint hegu L14 and lavender aromatherapy has an effect on the pain perception of first-time labouring mothers at Panembahan Senopati Bantul Hospital.
This type of research is quasi experiment design Two Group Pre-Post test Design. The sample size was 60 respondents with purposive sampling technique. Data collection using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) observation sheet, perception questionnaire sheet, the intervention group received acupressure acupoint hegu L14 for 15 compressions of 10 minutes duration and lavender aromatherapy with a diffuser for 10 minutes, Paired sample t-test and Independent sample t-test were conducted.
The mean pre-post-test difference of the intervention group was 9.1 greater than the control group by 1.17. The statistical test results showed p 0.001 (p<0.025). The combination of acupressure therapy on acupoint hegu L14 and lavender aromatherapy has an effect on the pain perception of labouring mothers in the first stage of labour.
The combination of acupressure therapy on acupoint hegu L14 and lavender aromatherapy is one way to deal with labour pain so that mothers relax, reduce maternal worry, and reduce maternal anxiety.
