Abstract

Abstract

One of common health issues among children, especially those under the age of five, is fever. If not properly managed, fever may lead to febrile seizures. Febrile seizures can occur at home; therefore, mothers need adequate knowledge and skills to handle them effectively. Improving mothers’ skills in managing febrile seizures can be achieved through educational demonstrations using booklets as media. This study aimed to identify the effect of demonstrations using booklets on mothers’ skills in early management to febrile seizures at home. A quasi-experimental design was used with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 50 mothers with children under five years old, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon rank-sum test, which showed a p-value of 0.000 ≤ 0.05, indicating a significant effect of the demonstration using booklets on mothers’ skills. The study concludes that mothers’ skills in the early management of febrile seizures at home can be improved through demonstrations using booklet media. These findings can serve as a basis for ongoing health education regarding febrile seizure management.
